About Brandy
Brandy Boza is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, certified teacher, and professional school counselor. Brandy works with children, adolescents, young adults and adults in areas including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, emotional regulation, and trauma and has over 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents. Known for her upbeat and approachable personality, Brandy creates a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. She takes a client-centered approach, meeting people where they are and helping them build the tools they need to thrive emotionally and socially.
Brandy always knew she wanted to work with children, but her passion for mental health was sparked in 1998 while working at a mental health facility in South Texas. After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology, she served as a case manager and later joined Houston’s Assertive Community Treatment team, supporting adults with moderate to severe mental health challenges. Through that work, she began to recognize how early intervention in childhood could have changed the trajectory for many of the clients she served. This realization inspired her to pursue a more preventative path—earning her teaching certification in 2002 with the intention of becoming a school counselor. A few years later, a pivotal conversation with a struggling student confirmed that calling and led Brandy to earn her M.Ed. in school counseling, solidifying her commitment to helping children make sense of their inner world and build healthy foundations for the future.
In her clinical work, Brandy utilizes evidence-based modalities such as play therapy, expressive arts, and sensory-based interventions to support children as they navigate emotional challenges and the everyday ups and downs of growing up. She believes that play is the natural language of children and provides a developmentally appropriate way for them to express thoughts and emotions they may not yet have the words to articulate. Through play, children can process difficult experiences, build self-awareness, and develop problem-solving skills in a safe and supportive environment. Brandy also incorporates expressive arts such as drawing, storytelling, and creative movement as powerful tools for emotional awareness, expression, regulation, and healing. These approaches not only help children make sense of their internal world but also support brain-body integration and emotional resilience. In addition, she provides psychoeducation on emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills, equipping children and their families with practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
With a deep understanding of the pressures today’s youth face, Brandy prioritizes emotional well-being, resilience, and open communication. She also conducts behavioral observations and collaborates closely with teachers, parents, school counselors, and mental health professionals to ensure continuity of care and holistic support for each child. Her goal is to empower young individuals and their families to navigate challenges with confidence and build healthy, connected lives.
