About Monica
Monica Garza, PhD, MPH is a Licensed Psychologist with over 15 years of experience serving children, adolescents, and young adults in the Houston community. She specializes in comprehensive psychological assessments that help individuals and families gain a deeper understanding of developmental, learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Dr. Garza is passionate about working with diverse and underserved populations and uses a collaborative, strength-based, approach to every evaluation. Her goal is to provide clear answers, practical recommendations, and a roadmap for next steps—whether in the classroom, at home, or in therapy.
Dr. Garza is a native Spanish speaker and offers bilingual evaluations and services in both English and Spanish.
Education and Training
Dr. Garza received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston in 2010, which was preceded by completion of her Master’s in Clinical Psychology in 2008. Dr. Garza received her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Management and Policy from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2005. Dr. Garza completed her APA APA-accredited Predoctoral Clinical Psychology Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF). Dr. Garza received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Science-Business in 2001 from the University of Notre Dame.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Garza has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed research articles and provides supervision and training to doctoral students in psychology.
Dr. Garza provides evidence-based psychological evaluations tailored to each individual’s needs. All assessments include a clinical interview, behavior rating scales, direct testing, a detailed written report, and a feedback session to review results and recommendations. Her focus as an evaluator is to connect her patients to supports; problem solve; explore and explain each person’s unique profile; and advocate for resources to improve their outcomes.

Fee: $900
Evaluates intellectual strengths and areas for support. Often used for giftedness, academic planning, or school accommodations.

Full Scale IQ, index scores, and subtest breakdown
Behavioral observations and tailored recommendations
Autism Evaluation (Ages 2+)
Fee: $2,500
Comprehensive assessment of developmental history, social communication, and behavioral
functioning to evaluate for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Developmental interview
Record review
Behavior rating scales
Structured play-based and observational assessment
Comprehensive Evaluation
Fee: $3,200
Assesses multiple areas of functioning including learning, ADHD, Autism, behavior, and mood.
Ideal for complex or longstanding concerns requiring an integrated approach.
Includes:
One to three testing sessions
Full developmental and educational history
Cross-battery testing across cognitive, academic, behavioral, and emotional domains
Parent Guidance Consultation
Fee: $400 (75-minute session)
One-time session to address a specific concern and determine whether formal evaluation is
needed.
Includes:
Brief clinical interview
Screening tools (as appropriate)
Summary of findings and recommendations for next steps
